We are fast approaching the 2010 HCARC Field Day in June.
In preparation of this upcoming event we will be having our practice Field Day on April 17th the third Saturday in April.
Jim Pickett N9EYG has graciously agreed to allow us to use his barn as a station for this event.
On the actual Field Day in June we will be attempting to work 160 80 40 20 15 10 6 and 2 meter bands. To do this right we will need eight rigs and eight antennas set up. We are realistic and understand that we may not accomplish all of this. We would still like to try for everything we can and our practice day will help make sure we get it right.
As of now practice setup is scheduled to start at 0800 on Saturday the 17th and we plan to shutdown about 5:00. Everyone attending should bring something to drink and a sack lunch. With all we have to do time will not permit a long lunch hour. We will save the cookout for our two day event in June.
We would like to put together a list of members that we can count on to help operate the stations and a list of equipment that you can bring out and set up the practice event and for Field Day. We are going to try for points this year so this Field Day will be about making contacts and we need every member’s participation. Please let us know what we can count on you to provide.
Contact us by email at members@hcarc.org
We are having our next planning session to line up the equipment and get a feel for the participation we can expect. This will be Saturday February 6th at 10:00 in room A at the Henry County Library and hope you can attend.
If we are going to make this Club everything we want it to be we all need to pitch in and have some fun.

To all the members of the HCARC....the following comments are NOT aimed at any one person. I don't see much enthusiasm for the field day practice day. I am wondering why that is? We have a good place to do this, We have a person in charge who has put a lot of effort and has done a good job of organizing the exercise. This is an excellent opportunity for new and veteran hams to get out to see what it's like to operate in this type of situation. Field day is a fun time and has the opportunity for the hams of Henry County to reunite or make new friends in the Ham radio hobby.
I am a bit dissapointed in the lack of response. The rigs will be there, the antennas will be there along with experienced operators to explain and show how emergency communications might be done if needed. I was involved in this type of situation during the blizzard of 1978 and the Kennard tornado of 1974. If one thinks this can't happen again....well think again. We just had an earthquake in Haiti and Hams were a big help in the aftermath. I feel this is a good time to band together as a club and do something that is fun and a learning. Since I have been back in the hobby and rejoined the club, I have seen little activity on an operating basis. Just going to club meetings and sitting around for an hour or more is not "doing something". This is the first activity outside of the library that has the purpose of having 'fun'!
I would like to suggest one get in touch with Barry, AB9MT, to let him know that you would like to help or just come out to visit on the practice day. Let's get together and make this a fun experience.

Greeting to all Ham's in and around Henry County Our Practice Field Day is just two weeks away and plans are coming together quit well. Barry AB9MT is still interest in who is planning to come out and participate so please E-mail him so he has an idea of what to expect. Everyone is invited to Jim's N9EYG this Wednsday to put up antenns at 2pm. This is a well planned event if we have plenty of people show to enjoy good company and plenty of air time. So if you have not been on the air for awhile this will be a good time. Looking foward to seeing all at Jim's N9EYG. 73s
